Presence and Perseverance

August 2020 Love Letters: Day 15

Hello, darlin’!

Today is a great day to have a great day, don’t you think? I certainly do. It’s what I tell my customers all day long: “It’s a great day here at [my workplace], how can I help?” I find the more often I say it, the more real it becomes for me, even if I’m in a funk. Truly, I believe it, too – every day you wake up is a great day because new opportunities are on the horizon and you’ve gotten another chance at life. Today, I started a virtual 31-day yoga challenge with a friend and it inspired the topic for tonight, as both presence and perseverance are both vital elements of a yoga practice.

How do YOU practice your presence? There are many ways to help stay in the moment, a big one in yoga and meditation is focusing on your breath. Often, we forget that breathing is a thing our bodies naturally just *do* for us, and we neglect to fully expand our lungs with some big deep breaths. (Take a couple now with me, please.) In through your nose, out through your mouth. Push out all the worry, anxiety, and tension you didn’t even realize you might be holding onto. Get that sweet, sweet release, love. If there are moments where you are feeling overwhelmed with what life is throwing at you, pause. Take a few deep breaths and remember that you are okay right in this moment.

How do you practice perseverance? Nowadays we are facing many situations that are affecting mental health for so many of us, increasing depression, anxiety, loneliness, etc…first off I want you to remember that you are not alone. You are very, very loved, and we all need you here to keep shining your light. If you are reading this right now, that means you are already a MASTER of perseverance by sheer fact of your continued existence. We all have a story and have been through heartache and pain, although what we are currently dealing with is on a scale that none of us have been through before. IT’S GON’ BE ALRIGHT. We are going to get through this together even if we have to learn better ways to connect virtually with others, and more importantly learn to enjoy your own company.

My darling, it is crucial that you persevere and stay present. That is how we will make it through to the other side. It is not going to be like this forever, even though it may be a challenge to get through it. Have we EVER been the type of people to turn down a challenge? ABSOLUTELY not! Remember, my warrior, who you truly are. I am calling you to remember what you were BORN already knowing and started to forget as you developed your ego and sense of self. The people all around us are our family, brothers and sisters, children of an awesome divine Creator. Remember who you are, my love, in truth and light. Let’s move forward one step at a time, and we will hug again in-person someday soon!

Love always and forever,

L Joy
